After graduating with a degree in Fashion and Textiles from NCAD Dublin, Irish designer Debbie Millington began her career in the costume departments of major Hollywood productions. Over the past 20 years, she has contributed to the costume design of feature films including Star Wars, Moulin Rouge, King Arthur, The Green Knight, Bodkin, Small Things Like These, Love & Friendship, Brideshead Revisited, The Wind That Shakes the Barley, The Guard, and more recently, Tim Burton’s Wednesday (Season 2). She was also Costume Design Assistant on Disney’s Disenchanted.

During this time, she travelled extensively—for both work and inspiration. Her designs reflect a rich blend of global influences and cinematic flair. Her creative process is deeply rooted in storytelling—from sourcing fabrics in local markets to researching historical fashion for on-screen characters.

“Everything I do and every place I have been has influenced my designs. My work is an amalgamation of life’s experiences—each piece is a reflection of my personal journey, shaped by the unique way I see and interpret the world. Working in costume taught me the value of detail, craftsmanship, and narrative. The early prep weeks—searching bazaars, gathering textures, sketching ideas—are where the magic begins.”

Now, Debbie brings her wealth of experience in film and fashion into her own silk design business. What began with a single silk scarf has evolved into a diverse collection that includes kaftan tops, pyjamas, silk pillowcase and eye mask sets, and a growing home interiors line featuring velvet cushions and silk lampshades.
